Abstract
The Cost Sector Catering Awards are the pivotal point of the foodservice calendar. There's simply no other arena that offers foodservice caterers the chance to be judged by their peers and come through to win industry-wide recognition as the best.
The nomination deadline for this year's prestigious Cost Sector Catering Awards has been extended to Friday 13th February 2009. Many of you have been asking for more time to complete the form and gather your supporting evidence and so the deadline has been extended. You now have until Friday 13th February 2009 to submit your entries. To win one of the coveted award categories is the pinnacle of any executive's career and recognises their outstanding contribution to this wonderful industry of ours. It is the highest acknowledgement of merit that can be bestowed from within the foodservice industry. If you have a colleague who you believe should be acknowledged for their outstanding contribution to the smooth running of their operation, please let us know as soon as possible. It might be for their professionalism and dynamism or their energy and management skills. It could be for their influence within the workplace or their outstanding dedication to the foodservice industry. When you have identified a worthy nominee – someone you believe really stands out from the crowd – simply complete the nomination form at the back of this brochure. In addition please prepare an A4 script on why you are nominating the candidate, qualifying the reasons for your choice. It is your script about the candidate that needs to convince the judges of their worthiness for the award. When nominating you should be aware of the time constraints that any judging committee have to work to, therefore, we ask you to send just relevant, concise and factual information. The Blue Ribband Award winner is selected by the judges from all entries. It is given to the person who, above all others, has made the biggest impression on our industry. ARMED SERVICES AWARD The feeding of this country's military personnel is a demanding and varied occupation. Nominations are sought for an individual who has had an outstanding career and has achieved excellence over many years of service or has shown dedication over and above the call of duty within a specific situation. CHEF AWARD The heart of any foodservice provider's operation is the kitchen. This award recognises the chef who provides the highest standards of professionalism for food quality and innovation. The nominee's outstanding contribution can be made within any area of the cost catering sector, from business and industry sites, healthcare, education, armed services, prison service, event-catering, airlines to social services. Judges will consider the ability to create nutritionally balanced menus produced to the highest standards within the constraints the cost sector demands. CONTRACT CATERING AWARD Nominations are sought for companies that have excelled in the world of contract catering. This may include the successful move into new market sectors, the introduction of education and training schemes, the development of new concepts, completion of modernization programmes, or a combination of any of these events. CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY AWARD The Corporate Responsibility Award has been introduced to recognise the company above all others that has integrated social, economic and environmental concerns into its business. Key Corporate Responsibility issues could include stakeholder engagement, labour standards, employee and community relations and responsible sourcing. CONTRACT CATERING DISTRICT MANAGER AWARD A critical role for any contract catering business is that of the operations or district manager. This award seeks to reward the person who has excelled in areas such as contract retention, business development, innovation and profit contribution. CONTRACT CATERING SALESPERSON AWARD Sales are the lifeblood of any business. This new award has been introduced to recognise the person who has continually delivered new business , or retained existing contracts, by a clear and concise understanding of the client's needs.
