Elior wins catering contract with The James Hutton Institute
Abstract
Contract caterer Elior UK has been awarded the contract by The James Hutton Institute to provide catering, hospitality and cleaning services at its two sites in Invergowrie near Dundee and Craigiebuckler in Aberdeen.

Elior’s 37-strong team will be a mix of chef managers, cooks, catering and cleaning assistants who will provide services for the Hutton’s 500+ employees across its two locations. Elior operates catering contracts across the B&I, health & care home, defence, education, stadia and heritage sector.

Elior’s Breaz app went live on the first day of the contract as the sites are cashless, which allows employees the ability to browse, order and pay for food via their smartphone, minimising wait times and eliminating the need for paper menus that are quickly out of date and create more waste.

The Invergowrie site will see a new restaurant opening this summer, creating new opportunities for the introduction of delicious guest kitchens and pop-ups.

Calum McLaren, regional managing director of Elior UK, said: “The James Hutton Institute is exactly the type of organisation we love to work with. An institution that is working towards positive change for the planet aligns fully with our aims and CSR objectives. We are working together to create a contact that can adapt and grow to meet the Institute’s needs as it expands, whilst enabling the best service provision.”

The Hutton is a research organisation delivering applied science to drive the sustainable use of land and natural resources. The Institute’s research involves crops, soil and land use to present findings that impact key global issues such as food, energy and environmental security, and develop effective technology and management solutions.

Ian Hadden, facilities manager at the Hutton, added: “We are excited to be collaborating with Elior as our new partner for all things catering and cleaning. We were impressed by the quality of Elior’s proposal and the technical solutions on offer.

“As we welcome the infrastructure development at both our campuses, we look forward to developing our contract with Elior. As our relationship continues, we will be exploring the potential for more formal hospitality as well as developing the catering options for everyone on site.”
