HelloFresh reveals how to make most of avocado oversupply

The food experts at HelloFresh shared the easiest of ways to make the most of the avocado oversupply.

Whether it’s smashed on toast, grilled, pickled or blended into a smoothie, farmers are urging consumers to eat more of them after recent news reveals avocado production has boomed, rising by 30,000 tonnes from 2021 to 124,000 tonnes this year.

Blend it

Making a smoothie with your avocados is a great way to use your supply. Perfect for an on the go breakfast, combine your avocados with green, leafy vegetables like kale and fruits like banana, pineapple or berries. For that extra kick, add half a teaspoon of cinnamon. 

Spread it

Another popular way to eat your avocado is spreading it on toast, for a rich and velvety, cholesterol-free topping. Simply top your toast with your mashed avocado and bacon and season with salt, pepper and chilli flakes if you like it hot.

Grill it

Grilled avocado is a fantastic summer side dish to barbecued meats. So quick and simple, avocados grilled on the barbecue cook to a wonderful softness and creaminess with a smoky taste. They are the perfect complement to your favourite barbecued items. 

Mix it

One of the most popular Mexican recipes is guacamole. There are numerous versions, and it's not only simple to create but also delicious. Veggie-packed, mildly spicy, or a straightforward, tangy, garlicky spread - get creative.
