Accent Catering wins Good Egg Award

Abstract
Accent Catering has scooped the Compassion in World Farming's Good Egg Award.
The accolade is given to a select group of companies who show leadership by switching to cage-free eggs (barn, free-range or organic). All of the eggs used by Accent's chefs are supplied by 3663 who source their eggs from three different suppliers. 3663 have ensured that all suppliers have registered with the Lion Scheme to ensure animal welfare and hygiene. In addition to this, 3663 require all free-range flocks to be accredited to the Freedom Foods standard. The scheme, operated by the RSPCA, sets out additional freedom and welfare requirements. These include the freedom from hunger, thirst, pain, discomfort and fear. Gordon Haggarty, managing director for Accent Catering, explained: "The award not only recognizes Accent and 3663 for the work we have done to meet these standards, but raises awareness about the importance of using free-range eggs in schools, companies and at home. "As a business we are totally committed to using ingredients that are fresh, seasonal, local and organic including high welfare meat, and sustainable fish."
