Abstract
To celebrate British Roast Dinner Week (30 September to 6 October), care home chefs are being challenged to create an extra special roast, sponsored by Knorr Gravy and supported by Colman’s.

It’s simple to enter. Care homes need to offer at least two roasts on their menu during British Roast Dinner Week – something special or different that makes the meal time the highlight of the residents’ day. Then ask at least five residents which was their favourite of the roasts served.

To enter, simply email the following information to donna@williammurray.co.uk by 18 October 2013:

-    The name of your winning roast
-    A sentence on why your dish was special
-    A sentence telling us how many residents voted and why they loved the roast
-    NOTE: There will be bonus points for photographs

Judging will take place on 21 October, before the winners are announced on 24 October.

Jean Cattanach, who heads up of Unilever Food Solutions’ care team, said: “Roast dinners top the list of things consumers love about Britain  and we want care home caterers to get residents excited during British Roast Dinner Week, creating something new and different with a bit of a twist.

“We want to reward the care home whose meats are magnificent, whose tatties are tip top, and whose Yorkshires leave their residents yearning for more. So if you think you’re a cut above the rest – and are convinced you can give the competition a roasting as well as your residents a roast to remember - nominate yourself now.”

The winner will be given the title of Britain’s Best Care Home Roast and receive: a hamper of Knorr and Colman’s goodies, a certificate, PR for their home surrounding the win and a giant board game for the residents. Three runners up will receive five tubs of Knorr Gravy, a certificate and a Colman’s kit (oven glove and apron) and a Dove kit for the residents. Seven finalists will receive a Colman’s kit (oven glove and apron) and certificate.
