Catering and hospitality industry celebrated in New Years Honours List 2010

Abstract
The New Year brings new honours and the hospitality industry has been well-rewarded and recognised in the annual list.
Cyrus Todiwala, chef patron at Café Spice Namaste was awarded an OBE for services to the industry. Todiwala, who was already an MBE said he was "deeply honoured and humbled to receive this recognition, which came as a lovely surprise." Iqbal Wahhab, chairman of the Ethnic Minority Advisory Group at the Department for Work and Pension was awarded an OBE for his contribution to public service and hospitality. Wahhab is also the founder of London restaurant Roast. Rose Gray and Ruth Rogers became MBEs for services to hospitality after the success of their River Café. Linda Kennedy the manager at Banqueting House in Whitehall was also recognised with a MBE for her hard work and commitment. Norman Roberston curriculum leader in hospitality at Ayr College became a MBE for his work with young people. Contract catering also fared well in the New Years Honours List with William Baxter, deputy chief executive of BaxterStorey becoming a CBE and catering supervisor Mary George at Crossroads Primary School, Keith was awarded an MBE.
