Abstract
The Foodservice Equipment Association (FEA) is urging foodservice operators to engage with it in representing a coordinated industry approach to food waste.

Keith Warren, chief executive of FEA says: “We are deeply involved in representing the industry on the issue of  developing a UK Food Waste Management Strategy.

“We face significant developments over the coming months that will mean, if approved, significant increases in costs to foodservice operators in both the primary and secondary markets.

“This will apply in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. This involves both the policy-making departments and the enforcement agencies. As a result there could be significant operational issues that will affect your members’ businesses.”

He is urging industry-wide collaboration to ensure that ‘we get appropriate policy/enforcement that is proportionate and relevant to the industry’ on how it can manage food waste.

“The cost issue is especially important at this time with significant parts of the industry being closed or operating under pressure due to Covid-19.”
