Ikea in-store restaurants put Plum on the menu

22nd Sep 2009 - 00:00
Abstract
Plum, a range of foods for babies, will now be served in Ikea’s 18 UK stores and the recently opened Dublin store, it has been announced.
The 4+ month spinach, parsnip and basil and blueberry, banana and vanilla 100g pouches will be free to customers with babies who purchase an adult meal - all of the 19 stores offer facilities to heat baby food. Founded by mum of three and former chef, Susie Willis, Plum uses adult style recipes. All of Plum's recipes are organic, contain no additives, added salt or sugar and use the mother grain Quinoa instead of bulking agents. Susie Willis said: "Ikea offers funky, good quality furniture at a reasonable price which means that it is popular with everyone, especially families. At the weekend the stores are full of children, so the restaurant facilities are very important - I know as we spend a lot of time there! As a huge fan of Ikea's Swedish food offerings - especially the meatballs - I am thrilled that it has chosen Plum as its baby food." Stuart Cowan, Commercial Manager for Ikea Foods, added: "At Ikea we like to support entrepreneurial brands with great ethics – what we term "friendly rebels". Plum was an obvious choice for Ikea - we want to offer all our families organic, delicious and wholesome meals - and that includes babies."
