NACC to celebrate 80th anniversary of D-Day landings
Abstract
The National Association of Care Catering (NACC) is proud to be joining in the 80th anniversary of D-Day by encouraging everyone to have a Fish and Chip lunch on Thursday 6th June.

The NACC has released a free resource pack for care sector caterers to download and make the most of the day in their care homes, lunch clubs and Meals on Wheels provisions. The pack includes a Fish and Chips recipe from the NACC Care Chef of the Year Brian Preston.

Neel Radia, chair of the NACC, said: “This is an ideal celebration for everyone within the care sector. Many of today’s residents in the care homes represented by the NACC will have first-hand memories of this momentous occasion and we have a fine reputation of inviting the local community into our homes, including young children, to share events like these, giving our residents the chance to pass on their treasured memories.”

National Fish & Chip Day, which is now in its ninth year, has been moved this year in order to honour the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings, the largest naval, land and air operation in history.

Fish & Chips were often considered the British national dish and this meal was a vital ingredient of the war effort in both the first and second world wars. The British Government safeguarded the supply of fish and potatoes during both world wars in order to keep up morale.
