Abstract
Food bank network The Trussell Trust received an offer to match donations given to them up to the value of £500,000.
The Trussell Trust saw this as a ‘great opportunity’ to raise £1 million over the next few weeks- with all the money being used to help vulnerable families this Christmas.
According to the charity their food banks in their network are set to be even busier than normal this Christmas. The Trussell Trust is expecting to give out an emergency food parcel every nine seconds to people across the UK.
The £1 million pounds will be used for:
- Offer support to food banks helping people who are unable to afford food right now.
- Develop projects with food banks that help prevent people needing support a second time.
- Campaign for the longer-term changes that we know will bring us closer to a future where everyone can afford the essentials.
