Abstract
The school meals industry’s suppliers will be out in force at the School Food Show within the Main Event. Here are some to look out for.

Joel Carr, development chef at Young’s Foodservice, says: “Schoolchildren are notoriously picky eaters, so ensuring they receive a healthy, balanced, and nutritional diet is sometimes challenging, but fish fingers or our fish goujons can be an easy way to boost nutrition and see empty plates coming back from lunch service.

“A fish finger wrap can be a simple and delicious way to offer a balanced meal – serve with lettuce and sliced tomatoes with a mild sweet chilli sauce for a tasty lunch.

“For teens, our sustainably sourced and MSC Certified Wild Alaska Pollock and Pink Salmon Pieces are a great base for many dishes that can be served as a grab-and-go option.

“Noodles, Wild Alaska Pollock and Pink Salmon Pieces with ginger, soy sauce, garlic, and chilli - it tastes amazing, is really easy and quick to cook, and can be served plated or in a takeaway box with chopsticks for added authenticity.

“Or try our new 50g battered cod portion, perfect for those looking for a smaller serving, it is easy to cook, tastes delicious and is a valuable source of protein, vitamins, and minerals, making it even easier for everyone to achieve the Government’s advice to eat two portions of seafood a week.”

School food providers can register to attend the LACA School Food Show free of charge.
