Abstract
A group of industry champions will work together to ‘inspire’ and enable school caterers to use the best of British and seasonal food to provide fresh nutritious school meals.

The Love British Food Schools Working Group is co-chaired by Jeanette Orrey MBE and Alexia Robinson. Members of the group include LACA chair Jacquie Blake, Sam Ward, Derek Wright, Julie Donaldson, Steven Kemp, Linda Cregan, Judith Gregory, Jayne Jones, Christine Boyle, Meg Hughes, Caroline Morgan, Dr Jason O’Rourke and Tony Mulgrew.

Orrey said: “Every year I am impressed by the menus that hundreds f school caterers produce for British food fortnight. At the end of last year’s national food celebrations I thought it would be great if every school in the country took part this year. I am delighted that Love British Food has set up this new working group to achieve this.”

Why join in with British Food Fortnight 2022 (17 September to 2 October):

  • Over 1m children took part last year
  • If you source British food already, the fortnight is the perfect time to shout about it
  • Use the event to build relationships with British suppliers
  • The event is an opportunity to help children learn more about food provenance and seasonality

Robinson added: “I am delighted that some of the very best leaders in school catering have agreed to join the group. We are all much looking forward to working together to achieve this.”
