Accompanied by their lecturers, the students began their visit with lunch at chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen’s restaurant Rosi, located within the Beaumont in Mayfair.
Following the dining experience, chief executive Stuart Proctor hosted a discussion with the group, sharing his personal journey within hospitality. The students were also given a behind-the-scenes tour of the kitchens by executive chef Brendan Fyldes.
The following day, the group visited Jumeirah Carlton Tower in Knightsbridge, where HR director Jonathan Napier led a roundtable discussion and careers talk before touring the hotel and showcasing the wide range of services and opportunities within the business. Students also enjoyed an interactive culinary demonstration and lunch hosted by executive chef Mario Perera and his team.
The visit concluded with an afternoon at Harrods, where Alistair Birt guided the students through the food halls, restaurants and kitchens. The group also enjoyed a special chocolate tasting experience during the tour.
Neil Rippington, director of the college community programme at the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, said: “It is wonderful to have the support of our network in providing students, such as those from Blackburn College, with inspiration and a real insight into the world of possibilities and opportunities available within the UK’s hospitality industry. Experiences like these are invaluable in helping young people understand the breadth of careers on offer and in encouraging the next generation of hospitality professionals.”
