Brita partnership removes almost 500,000 single-use plastic bottles
Abstract
In its first two years, Brita’s partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) has eliminated nearly half a million single-use plastic bottles (481,000) from UK tennis events.

The move came as a response to a mounting global crisis, with nearly 40% of the world’s 380 million tonnes of plastic produced each year used just once before being thrown away.

As the official sustainable water partner to the LTA, Brita has redefined sustainable hydration at top British WTA and ATP tennis events – including Queen’s Club, Birmingham, Nottingham and Eastbourne – by replacing single-use plastic bottles with filtered water dispensers and reusable bottles.

David Hall, managing director at Brita UK, commented: “This isn’t just a sustainability win – it’s proof that with the right infrastructure and messaging, you can drive real behaviour change. Hospitality has enormous influence, and even small changes – when made consistently and visibly – can create a ripple effect that shifts industry norms and accelerates the move away from single-use culture.”
