Abstract
The UK’s obsession with emulating celebrity chefs has moved from the kitchen to the campsite.
A recent poll revealed that the most popular campsite meals now include risotto, paella and veggie and meat skewers. According to the survey, commissioned by Dutch Edam and The Scouts, the growing craze for experimental cooking has led to the demise of traditional camping staples in favour of more complex culinary dishes cooked from scratch, with kids as young as six giving big name TV chefs a run for their money. The top five favourite foods were: ● Risotto, ● Paella ● Veggie and Meat Skewers ● Pasta bake ● Home made cheeseburgers Andrew Thorp from The Scout Association said: "Scouting is all about having an adventure in the great outdoors. It was only a matter of time before haute cuisine found its way onto the campsites of Britain! "With cookery programmes dominating our TV channels, Scouts are determined to give celebrity chefs a run for their money and re-create their challenging recipes in the great outdoors."
