Caterers get equipment warning ahead of busy summer

16th Apr 2012 - 00:00
Abstract
Catering operators gearing up for a busy summer of sport can reap the rewards of huge visitor numbers in London and across the UK – but only if their equipment is up to the task, warns a leading equipment supplier.
Stuart Flint, sales director at Electrolux Professional, said: "With more than 14 million people expected to visit London this summer, now is the time for retailers and caterers to make sure their equipment is reliable and productive. "There will be a huge number of people eating on the go this summer, particularly in London; the Olympic Park alone is expected to attract 180,000 visitors each day. "Operators, therefore, must make sure they have the right equipment in place to keep up with demand without affecting the quality of food or customer experience. "People are clearly aware of the opportunities because there was huge interest in our food-on-the-move equipment at Hotelympia. He adds: "With so much footfall expected this summer – and so many consumers looking to eat on the move to avoid overcrowding and expensive venue catering – being able to serve up delicious hot sandwiches in less than 60 seconds and keep the queue moving is a massive advantage."
