School meals education charity School Food Matters has teamed up with Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity to provide free, healthy breakfast boxes to pupils in Lambeth and Southwark whose families are in need of support as a result of the impact of coronavirus.
Now in its tenth week of operation, the organisations have delivered nearly 26,000 breakfast boxes to families across 106 schools, with enough food for over 250,000 healthy breakfasts.
Soon after the scheme started, the two charities were joined by another, Chefs in Schools, which has arranged to provide healthy lunch hampers.
So far 1,625 hampers have been delivered to families across eight schools, providing 32,000 lunches.
