Chartwells hits gold with Essex school

20th Jul 2009 - 00:00
Abstract
A new seven-year contract, worth over £1 million a year, will see contract caterer Chartwells' relationship with Chigwell School reach half a century.
The contract with co-educational, independent day and boarding school, Chigwell School, first began in 1966 shortly after England won the World Cup. Since then, Chartwells has won a series of consecutive competitive tenders to retain the contract. Following the most recent tender, Chartwells will continue to provide catering to the 730 students and cleaning services for the next seven years meaning the partnership between Chigwell School and Chartwells will celebrate its golden anniversary in 2016. Coinciding with the new contract, the school will be extending its kitchen area in which Chartwells will install a new servery and new equipment. David Morrison, bursar at Chigwell School, said: "We are pleased that the historical relationship with Chartwells will continue. Over the years we have been impressed by the team on the ground; Chartwells supports us at Chigwell School, consistently providing the food and services our students and parents expect." Tony Byrne, business director, Chartwells, said, "We are very proud to be on our way to reaching a 50-year landmark with Chigwell School. Over the years we have responded to the different needs of the school and very much look forward to continuing this partnership in the future."
