Chartwells' partnership with Oxford Brookes University extended

19th May 2009 - 00:00
Abstract
Oxford Brookes University's partnership with contract caterer Chartwells will continue with the signing of a two year contract extension worth £4.5 million a year.
The partnership with Chartwells has helped Oxford Brookes University to become the world's first university to achieve a series of accolades including Fairtrade status and to become the first UK university to use the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) logo on its menus and receive the Good Egg Award. Gillian Almond, deputy director of hospitality services at Oxford Brookes University, said: "As a university we are very proud of our sustainable agenda and in Chartwells we have found a partner to support this and push us forward. We share a partnership of cultures and are very happy to continue this relationship." Tony Byrne, business director from Chartwells, added: "Oxford Brookes' emphasis on sustainability and ethical sourcing is very much in line with Chartwells' philosophy. The strength of this partnership and our sharing of ethos has led to some very successful firsts for the University including the recent Good Egg Award. We hope that together we can continue to lead the way and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to sustainability in universities."
