Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge has called on the Government to tackle the equivalent of seven billion wasted meals every year as families across the country continue to struggle with the cost of living crisis, it was exclusively reported by The Mirror.
The UK Government has made a commitment to halve food waste by 2030 from a 2007 baseline.
Kerridge said: “It’s an eye-watering amount of food waste in the UK every year – it’s a scandal and one that is so heartbreaking to hear.
“We can’t continue to have a country that has critical food poverty on one hand and food going to waste on the other, there must be a strategy and strong Government leadership to find a solution.”
