Abstract
In-house, school catering consultants, CMC, invited the former England Rugby star turned celebrity Masterchef, Phil Vickery, to visit one of its client schools, Turves Green Boys in Birmingham for a healthy eating talk.

The visit, on 27 June, was arranged through CMC’s supplier Creed Food Services and formed part of the year 9’s Food Technology course with Vickery delivering a motivational Healthy Eating talk to the pupils before hosting a question and answer session for the whole school.

Topics included his diet as a professional rugby player and winning the world cup.

The former Master Chef also enjoyed the American-themed lunch that was served by the Turves Green, in-house catering team and the CMC Development Chef, Paul Nixon.

CMC consultant, Kirstie Simpson, said: “Vickery’s visit haa been really enjoyable and educational for the pupils, not only for his knowledge of food and nutrition, but also his time as captain with the World Cup winning England Rugby Union Team.

“Healthy eating in schools is very important to CMC who launched their own, school-compliant, fast-food range, Tub Be Good To Me last year.

“The range is primarily aimed at high schools where pupils tend to prefer grab and go style options that reflect what’s available on the high street.

“This year sees CMC focusing on helping schools to reduce the sugar content in their menus in order to meet the Government’s 2020 target of a 20% sugar reduction in products consumed by children.”
