Contract caterers recognised in food industry awards shortlist

Sodexo and Compass Group are among the nominees in this year’s IGD Food Industry Awards, which recognise excellence in categories ranging from sustainability to consumer understanding and to social innovation.
Lorraine Thomas from Sodexo is up for the Danone Leading Edge Leading Light Award. This category "recognises those who have gone the extra mile and made a real difference to their company, the industry or to Leading Edge (IGD's Development Network) during the past year." Compass Group has been nominated for the General Mills Award for Consumer Understanding. This award is "presented to the company that has demonstrated how it has truly understood its end customer and utilised new insight to deliver an innovative business solution such as a new product, service, promotional or information campaign." Others up for awards include Nestle UK, Kimberly-Clark, Kellogg's, Unilever for Flora and Premier Foods. Now in their 19th year, the awards winners will be announced on 13 October 2009, at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London. This year's awards ceremony will be attended by more than 550 industry leaders, including chairmen and chief executives from leading food retailers and suppliers.
