Abstract
Denbigh school chef Jane Jones has won the LACA Wales School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) Regional Final at Newtown College.

Jones is employed by Denbighshire County Council and is based at Ysgol Twm O’r Nant primary school. She will now go on to compete in the National Final of SCOTY against 11 other school chefs, which will be held on 5 March 2020.

The four school chefs had 90 minutes to prepare four portions of a main course and a dessert suitable for 11-year-olds in school with a maximum spend allowance of £1.30 for the cost of a single meal.

Jones had a winning menu of glazed chicken in a sweet potato wrap, pureed parsnip and carrot, parsnip and beetroot crisps plus micro herbs. For dessert Jones made a citrus jelly meringue, lemon curd and cream, forest fruit coulis and orange biscuit crumb.
