Abstract
Brenden Eades from Felsted School has been named as the winner of the East of England School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) regional final.

The regional final, which took place at Premier Foods HQ in St Albans, involved two chefs competing for a place in the competition’s national final. Brenden joins six other SCOTY regional final winners in securing his place at the national final, which is taking place at the LACA Main Event in July.

For his main course Brenden made Dal Pancharangi: Bollywood style mung bean and lentil dish, packed with protein, bhaji rosti and crisp chapati wrap. For dessert he created Gooseberry Fool: A refreshing traditional fruit fool with a citrus jelly top and cheeky cherry bottom.

The London and South East regional finals will take place this week. The winner of the national final will join 2022 winner Tom Armstrong on a MKN study tour of Germany.

School meal providers can register for free entry to the School Food Show to watch the competitors in action.
