Across Scotland, thousands of pupils arrive at school too hungry to concentrate. Teachers consistently report that morning hunger affects behaviour, confidence and the ability to learn before lessons have even begun.
Fuel for Success provides schools with nutritious breakfasts and calm, structured morning routines that help pupils feel ready for the day, especially during the pressure of exams.
Roberta Hall McCarron of The Little Chartroom said she felt compelled to get involved as both a chef and a parent. She said: “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and every child should have access to this. As soon as I learnt about Magic Breakfast and all the great work they are doing, I knew I had to support in any way possible. As a chef and a mum, I believe that it’s vital to provide children with nutritious meals.”
Magic Breakfast is calling for greater awareness of the role morning nutrition plays in educational outcomes and for more support to ensure no child is held back because of hunger.
