Abstract
A number of catering assistants, supervisors and cooks from Warwickshire-based school meals provider Educaterers have reached their Level 2 NVQs in food production and cooking after two years of training.

Eleven members of staff achieved the qualification having started their NVQs in autumn 2015.

Employees had to choose from 13 modules to study, ranging from maintaining a safe, hygienic and secure working environment, to producing a wide of range dishes and food products, to promoting new menu items and customer service.

Two members of the team, operations supervisor Deanna Crowther and catering assistant Charlotte Jones, completed additional modules in employment rights and responsibilities, a functional skills qualification in mathematics and a Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles.

“We are so proud of our team members and what they have achieved alongside delivering a brilliant catering service to pupils in schools across the county," said Terry Tredget, director of catering at Educaterers, which took over the provision of school meals to 195 schools from Warwickshire County Council in September.

“Investing in the ongoing development of our employees means we can continuously improve our services and our scope. Our people are our most important asset.”

Earlier this week, Tanya Malone, a school chef from Southam Primary school, one of those under Educaterers’ provision, qualified for the LACA School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) 2018 final.
