Abstract
Festival goers at Reading and Leeds Festival on 24-26 August, which attracted over 150,000 campers, were treated to a free 'Festival Fuel' breakfast courtesy of Festival Republic and prepared and served by Express Cafes.

Those who bought camping tickets from authorised agents were offered a voucher for a breakfast bap and beer or soft drink on each morning of the three day festival.

Express Cafes, an outdoor caterer, managed the cooking and packaging of the breakfast whilst voluntary staff from Oxfam and other volunteer groups helped serve hungry campers.

Alan Wiggett, managing director of Express Cafes said: "We set up two bespoke 'Food for campers' marquees at each festival campsite.  Campers could redeem their choice of a fresh bacon, sausage or scrambled egg and mushroom bap between 7am and 12am every morning.

"People love the idea of a freebie, it just adds to that feel good festival factor and there is nothing better than waking up to a nice warm breakfast bap to start off your day. It’s nice to be a part of such a large scale event like Leeds and Reading Festival.”

As well as the 'food for campers' outlets, Express Cafes also supplied 25 mobile food & beverage units at Leeds and Reading.
