Abstract
Five female chefs including Angela Hartnett OBE, Anna Haugh, Adriana Cavita, Sally Abe and Candice Brown joined forces on 29 March 2022 to cook in aid of charity Action Against Hunger.

Award-winning bartender Monica Berg supported the event by providing cocktails throughout the evening. The ticketed event included a five course meal, raffle and auction to raise £20,540.

Adriana Cavita, chef and owner of Marylebone restaurant Cavita, said: “It was a real pleasure to meet and work together with these amazing, strong, beautiful, fun women, especially for such an important cause. I would just like to give thanks to Action Against Hunger, White City House and all the people that worked to make this possible.”

Action Against Hunger is the ‘world’s leading charity’ in the fight against child hunger, treating more young children for life-threatening hunger than any other charity. In 2020, Action Against Hunger supported more than 25 million people across 46 countries.

The money raised will support Action Against Hunger’s projects around the globe, including in Peru, where some of the chefs will be visiting in late September with the charity. A recent survey by Action Against Hunger showed that 75% of people do not have enough to eat in Peru.

Candice Brown, winner of The Great British Bake Off 2016 and owner of The Green Man pub in Eversholt, added: “I felt completely honoured and overwhelmed to be asked to be part of this event. To cook alongside some of the fiercest talented women in the food industry blew my mind and all for an incredible cause – Action Against Hunger. We do what we can when we can to help others and I’m proud to have been part of it.”
