Fife Council celebrates 30 years of school meals
Abstract
Fife Council celebrated 30 years of National Schools Meal Week (NSMW) with children at St Brides RC Primary School in Cowdenbeath and pupils at Waid Academy, Anstruther.

Councillors were invited for lunch at Anstruther Primary to highlight and celebrate catering staff who work hard to provide nutritious choices daily for children in schools across Fife.

All children in P1-P5 can receive a free school meal. With Christmas on the way, families are being encouraged to save on packed lunches and take up the offer of free school meals if they have children in P1 to P5.

Councillor Cara Hilton said: “Our menus provide a balanced diet over the week and there really is something for all tastes, if you have children with special dietary requirements. As well as a range of cooked meals, there are healthy packed-lunch options – filled rolls, sandwiches and wraps.

“A Fife school lunch provides at least one third of the daily nutritional requirements of pupils. We’ll continue to work hard to make sure that children and young people have access to healthy and nourishing meals so that they are fully able to learn, play, and engage with their peers and communities."
