Abstract
The future of food regulation conference, which will take place on 8 September 2020, has announced its speaker programme.

The conference will bring together stakeholders with policy officials to consider options for future regulatory systems. Discussions will focus on food standards and the impact of future trade deals by the UK.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed the UK Government would reject any regulatory alignment with the European Union (EU) in future trade deals.

The keynote speakers include Heather Hancock chair of the Food Standards Agency, Michael Bell executive director of Northern Ireland Food and Drink Association and Charles Nancarrow director of trade and regulation at the National Audit Office.

Delegates will assess the implementation of the Food Standards Agency’s (FSA) Regulating our Future programme, which aims to create a modern and flexible regulatory system.

Other topics will be discussed including improving food regulation and enforcement at local level, cross boarder collaboration and priorities for the regulatory system.

The event will be chaired by Rt Hon the Lord Whitty member of the House of Lords food, poverty heath and environment committee.

The seminar will enable attendees to engage with key policymakers and other interested parties, including public health professionals, representatives from the food and drink industry as well as local government officials.
