Football is on the menu

21st May 2009 - 00:00
Abstract
Shropshire Council's Shire Services will be serving up an FA Cup Final themed meal at lunchtime tomorrow (22 May) at primary schools across the county.
The menu is made up of a choice of football meatballs (pork meatballs with pasta in a tomato sauce), quorn footballs (quornballs served with pasta in a tomato sauce) or trophy seafood (breaded salmon or pollock served with herby diced potatoes and tangy seafood dip), with half-term vegetables (sweetcorn and peas). The main course will be followed by final whistle cake – chocolate cake topped with icing and maltesers. The idea is to encourage more pupils to eat school meals, which are a great regular source of healthy and nutritious food. Lynne Hall, of Shire Services at Shropshire Council, said: "We hope the FA Cup Final menu will prove popular – especially as it coincides with Shrewsbury Town's visit to Wembley for the play-off final. School meals are a great way for children to enjoy locally-produced healthy food on a daily basis."
