The insight has been revealed by Freemans Event Partners, the specialist in event food and beverage, which provided the food and drink at four games at Allianz Stadium and Scottish Gas Murrayfield this season.
Rugby fans this season turned to new favourites, with both gyros and salt & chilli chicken breaking into the top sellers for the first time. At the Scotland v England fixture at Murrayfield, salt & chilli chicken came close to overtaking the classic cheeseburger, reflective of the growing pull of UK street food trends.
Traditional staples were not forgotten, with pasties and chips consistently ranking as the most purchased food items across all games. Guinness remains the ‘undisputed drink of the Six Nations’, topping sales at every fixture across both stadiums. Scottish Gas Murrayfield introduced Guinness self-serve bars recently.
Lee Davies, operations director at Freemans Event Partners, said: “Major events like the Six Nations show how fan tastes are evolving. People still love their matchday classics, but we’re seeing a real appetite for global flavours and street food‑inspired dishes. It’s a shift that enhances the overall experience while opening up new commercial potential for venues.”
