Healthcare food company BonCulina formally goes into administration
Abstract
Healthcare food company Anglia Crown, which has been trading as BonCulina, has this week been placed into administration, according to The Gazette Official Public Record.

Colchester-based Anglia Crown, which was acquired by international foodservice brand BonCulina in May 2023, with the original name phased out.

The company worked with more than 100 hospitals and employed an estimated 170 staff at Colchester and a smaller depot in Preston.

It wrote to staff this week to say: “I am writing to confirm that, as a result of the company’s insolvency and in consideration of its financial position, the company is no longer in a position to continue your contract of employment and you are being made redundant on economic grounds.

“You should therefore regard your service as terminated with effect from 10th November 2025.”

The company specialised in frozen prepared meals and chilled prepared meals that were designed for hospitals and care settings.

The role of the administrators, Kroll Advisory Ltd, will be to try to rescue the company as a going concern or, if that is not possible, to achieve a better result for its creditors than simply shutting it down immediately.
