The partnership will see Howden employees volunteering at The Felix Project and FareShare locations nationwide, making a valuable contribution to the redistribution of surplus food to communities who need it most.
Howden colleagues will also raise vital funds through a range of fundraising activities, charity events, challenges and employee-led initiatives, to help strengthen the charities’ reach and impact.
Approximately 14.3 million people in the UK live in poverty, including 4.3 million children. While people go hungry, the UK food industry throws away the equivalent of 10 billion meals every year.
Charlotte Hill, chief executive of The Felix Project & FareShare, said: “At a time when demand for our food is growing and people are struggling with the cost of living, we're thrilled to be entering into this new partnership with Howden.
“Working together, and with more than 8,000 charities, we can make a meaningful difference for people in need and build stronger communities across the UK. Many Howden colleagues already support our work by volunteering in our warehouses, and it's fantastic to be building on those important relationships following our recent merger.”
