Love British Food crowns 2025 Champion of Change winner
Abstract
Pro-Active Community Endeavour (PACE) from Loughborough has been unveiled as the winner of the 2025 Love British Food Champion of Change Community Competition, run in partnership with Morrisons, in recognition of the charity’s lasting impact on the lives of local residents.

The competition, which celebrates grassroots initiatives promoting sustainability, community wellbeing and the use of British produce, has been embraced by communities across the UK. Entries quadrupled this year, with many nominated by Morrisons in-store Community Champions.

PACE was praised by the judges for strengthening their local community through access to affordable meals and food via a local shop and reducing food waste. A certificate and vouchers were presented to PACE board member Tracey Parkinson.

Parkinson said: “To shine a spotlight on the everyday impact of our projects, from our Sassy Seniors meals to the chef-prepared dishes we serve to children and young people each week, is brilliant recognition. Most of all, it honours the hard work of our dedicated volunteers who give up their time week in and week out to support our amazing community.

“Giving space for people to come together around fresh, local, British produce to support one another and increase connections, offering a safe place to be. This award allows us to be able to invest the prize money back into the projects and help more people, so thank you for recognising what we are doing matters, we are very grateful.”

This year’s runners-up were the Fordhall Community Land Initiative from Market Drayton and Project Colt from Calderdale.

Alexia Robinson, founder of Love British Food, added: “It is so heartening – and indeed humbling – to learn more about the many deeply inspirational community-led projects that support and nurture people through good food and love. It is a privilege that our annual Champion of Change competition shines a light on them.

“The winner and runners-up are not only helping to shape a sustainable future but are also proving that local food systems are integral to building stronger communities. PACE, Fordhall and Project Colt are true champions of change, and we should celebrate their successes and follow their example of strengthening the roots that bind us together through making good food available to all.”
