Magic Breakfast wins first Government contract in Scotland
Abstract
Magic Breakfast, a national charity working to remove hunger in the morning as a barrier to learning, has announced it has won their first Government contract in Scotland through the Bright Start Breakfast Fund.

It has secured funding for five schools, one of which is working in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council. This project will enable Magic Breakfast to positively impact over 100,000 children during the 2025-26 academic year, from Aberdeenshire to East Ayrshire.

Each school will have access to all the breakfast items contained within our Magic Menu. The Magic Menu has been curated to ensure that the nutritional profile of the food meets the Scottish school food standards, ensuring they are low in sugar and high in fibre.

The partner schools will be assigned a dedicated engagement partner for the year who will deliver staff briefings, assemblies and parent information on the importance of a healthy breakfast.

Schools will also be able to draw on the 20 years plus experience that Magic Breakfast has of successfully setting up breakfast provisions.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “We are delighted that the Scottish Government have taken a step forward in funding school breakfast, however, we will continue to work with the Scottish Government ahead of the next election to ensure that no young Scot will be too hungry to learn. Breakfast Can’t Wait.”
