Meals provider Apetito partners with Sophie’s Legacy on market research
Abstract
Healthcare meals provider Apetito are working in partnership with charity Sophie’s Legacy to conduct market research into paediatric mealtimes in hospitals.

Recently the UK Government published its ten-year National Cancer Plan, a strategy covering cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, care and research. Sophie's Legacy, has spent over four years campaigning to ensure childhood cancer is no longer overlooked in national policy.

A key part of the plan is guaranteeing access to high-quality hospital food for children and young people with cancer, because nutritious food is important to health and recovery - and tasty food contributes to the experience of care.

A spokesperson for Apetito said: “We are always looking at ways to enhance our healthcare offering, and that is why we are launching market research, in collaboration with Sophie's Legacy, to gather more insights into children's food and the mealtime experience within hospitals.

“We want to hear from children in hospital, their parents, and healthcare staff and decision makers, to understand the current landscape, and see how we can make a real difference to improve mealtimes for children.”

Apetito understands that hospital food can play a vital role in recovery and comfort - especially in children. They also know that many children struggle to eat well in hospital, with factors like anxiety and unfamiliar surroundings contributing to a poor appetite.
