Meals on Wheels menu reflects changing tastes

14th Aug 2009 - 00:00
Abstract
Birmingham City Council are on the lookout for new menu suggestions for its meals on wheels service, which aims to reflect the changing tastes of the city.
As part of the council's on-going consultation on the 'meals on wheels' service, both residents and suppliers are being asked to submit their dream dish. Councillor Sue Anderson explained more: "We want to get the changes right, so we need to know what people would like to eat. The consultation meetings that I have attended so far have been extremely interesting; we have had requests for both soup and Chinese food, which the current menu does not offer. "I have even had a lady complain that there was not enough Scottish food on offer. By providing a different menu, we hope to see an extra 600,000 vulnerable people across the city accessing the meals service." To find out more about how you can have your say and for details of consultation events happening near you, contact the 'Meals on Wheels' consultation team on 0121 675 8058 or email mealsonwheelsconsultation@birmingham.gov.uk
