Abstract
Nestlé Professional is encouraging businesses to celebrate staff returning to the office by hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning to ‘reignite team spirit’.

According to Nestlé research bringing colleagues together over coffee, baked good and a worthy cause isn’t just a great way to reunite employees but it’s a good for business too.

More than six in ten employees (64%) say it’s important or very important that their workplace supports charity initiatives. Nearly two-thirds of employees (65%) said they’d be attracted to a company that supported a charity and encouraged staff to do the same over a company that didn’t.

Nestlé Professional has created an online hub with all the information people need to organise a successful Macmillan Coffee Morning – including posters, invitations, workplace decorations and Nescafé recipes.

Macmillan Coffee Mornings, which take place on or around 24 September, are well known for bringing people together over coffee and cake to raise vital funds to support people living with cancer.

Over half of the employees researched by Nestlé Professional (59%) said they work, or have worked, with someone who has been diagnosed with cancer, making the cause close to many in the workplace. More than half of employees (53%) said they would feel really positive about their workplace if allowed to do fundraising during work hours.

Cecilia Farr, beverages brand manager at Nestlé Professional, said: “With many of us working from home for months, getting back together with work colleagues in the office will be one of the high points of this year!

“What better way to bring the team back together than a Macmillan Coffee Morning - raising money for a great cause over a coffee and a slice of cake. We’ve had an amazing response so far, with lots of interest from businesses across the UK.”

From 1-15 September, Nestlé Professional donated £1 to Macmillan for every purchase of a 1kg, 750g and 500g Decaff NESCAFÉ Original tins.

Claire Rowney, executive director of fundraising, marketing & innovation at Macmillan Cancer Support, added: “Disruption caused by Covid-19 means Macmillan’s income is down at a time when demand for our services is up.

“It’s never been more important to host a Coffee Morning and raise vital income for people living with cancer. Workplaces can take part in Coffee Morning whenever, wherever and however suits them best.”
