New-build kitchens contract for Oldham academies

3rd Nov 2011 - 00:00
Abstract
Commercial kitchen supplier Vision has been appointed to work on two new academy schemes being built as part of the Oldham academies programme.
The contract is worth about £590,000 to Vision and, a spokesman said, "significantly boosts our portfolio of work in the education sector". The contract calls on Vision to design, supply and install the catering facilities at the two sites, with schedules to start this month. The company is also in negotiations over the third scheme. All three are located in the wider borough of Oldham in Lancashire. A spokesman for the main academies project contractor, Willmott Dixon, said Vision had been appointed based on their existing relationship and "the added value Vision brings to the schemes in meeting the local authority's aim of employing local companies from the Oldham catchment area". The academies programme will deliver two new-build academies – the Oasis Academy Oldham and the Waterhead Academy. The third and final scheme, The Oldham Academy North (sponsored by EACT), will be over 85% new build, although it will retain the existing sports hall. All three schemes, designed by Aedas Architects, will offer the local community indoor and outdoor sporting facilities including a fitness and activity studio, floodlit artificial 3G pitch and hard surface areas for football, netball and tennis.
