Abstract
The NHS Chefs Academy has made a recipe book to celebrate the best of British food that contains over 40 recipes across several categories including mains, roasts, side dishes, desserts, pastries and condiments.

Each recipe contains an ingredients list and detailed method for caterers or individuals who want to replicate the dish. The recipes include steak & mushroom pie, roast chicken, Yorkshire puddings, apple crumble and chocolate chip shortcake biscuits.

A spokesperson in the introduction said: “British dishes are just as exciting and as comforting as those in the cuisine of any other country, from good old fish and chips to a fantastic roast dinner - and topped off with a first-class dessert.

“British dishes reflect the seasons as we move through the year, and rejoice in them, enjoying the fact that some of their ingredients are only here for a short period of time and then gone until next year.

“This forms the basis for an ever-changing range of dishes that celebrate the seasons and remind us of times gone by. These dishes have stood the test of time and are classics in their own right. They deserve their place in our culinary repertoire as we celebrate Great British Dishes.”
