Abstract
Two thousand patients enjoyed a special Queen’s Jubilee menu at NHS Grampian hospitals over the bank holiday weekend.

Ruaraidh Mackintosh, patient catering manager at NHS Grampian, said: “We put on a Queen’s Jubilee menu which we do each time there is a large royal event. We have tried to pick menu items that are Scottish and have a royal theme bearing in mind that we had to also make sure we were able to get the ingredients because the last couple of years we’ve struggled like everyone else to get the right ingredients.”

NHS Grampian includes Gray’s in Elgin and Cornhill and Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI) in Aberdeen. The Queen’s Jubilee menu included:

  • Game broth with a crusty roll
  • Chicken balmoral
  • Smoked haddock & salmon melting in the middle of fishcakes
  • Scottish cheddar cheese omelette
  • Birkhall Scottish platter
  • Individual Queen’s Jubilee cakes
