NHS Supply Chain launches new fresh food and food-to-go framework tender
Abstract
NHS Supply Chain: Food has announced that a new Fresh Food & Food to Go Tender is now live, which it claims offers ‘greater flexibility by combining both categories into one streamlined route to market’.

Total value is estimated at more than £521m, including VAT, and it will include 1. Fresh Dairy and Bakery; 2. Fresh Meat, Poultry, Fish & Meat-Free Alternatives; 3. Fresh Produce; 4. Food to Go - Patient Feeding Solutions; 5. Food to Go - Retail Concepts.

Megan Wilkins, category buyer at NHS Supply Chain: Food, said it was a fantastic chance for new and existing suppliers to secure a place on an eight-year Open Framework, gaining access to a large NHS customer base, and grow alongside an evolving market.

“We are excited to re-tender our Fresh Food and Food to Go Framework this spring. This is a great opportunity for suppliers to secure a place on an eight-year Open Framework,” she said.

“Joining our framework offers a streamlined and efficient route to market. This can help businesses grow through access to a large customer base and allow NHS Supply Chain: Food to adapt more to changes in the market.”

The new framework will:

  • Combine fresh food and food to go into one procurement structure.
  • Run for eight years as an open framework, allowing new suppliers to join at various periodical intervals over this time period.
  • Support both patient feeding and retail catering across NHS England sites.
  • Expand supplier access to a large NHS England customer base.
  • Help trusts adapt to market changes, including cost pressures and sustainability requirements.
  • Provide food concepts to support NHS England trust’s retail outlets - driving revenue income.

The submission deadline is 3pm on Monday, June 8th. To find full details and the tender notice visit the Find a Tender Service platform.
