Abstract
According to the Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) there are around 210,000 children living in London that rely on universal credit but miss out on free school meals, it was reported in the Evening Standard.

The CPAG along with the Food Foundation launched the Feed the Future campaign to encourage the Government to extend free school meals to children living in poverty.

A CPAG spokesperson told the Evening Standard: “We must ensure every child in poverty in England can get a free nutritious meal at school every day.”

Number and percentage of children being denied free school meals:

  • North West: 100,000 (30%)
  • East: 90,000 (38%)
  • West Midlands: 80,000 (25%)
