The guide contains recipes for both primary and secondary schools. Some of the recipes include roast chicken, cottage pie, vegetarian strawberry jelly pots, fish finger sub and an apple crumble.
The recipes are designed to be easy for school chefs to make and in some cases at short notice. Each recipe idea contains information on the ingredients and methods to be used to replicate the pictured meal. The recipes also reveal ‘top tips’ from Premier Foodservice to help the school chefs.
McDougalls from Premier Foods was the sponsor for the 2020 LACA School Chef of the Year competition that aimed to find the best school chef in the country. Holly Charnock, employed by Sefton Catering Services and chef in charge at Woodlands Primary School, won SCOTY 2020.
Entrants had 90 minutes to prepare, cook and serve an imaginative, school compliant two course menu including a minimum of one different McDougall’s product in each course, suitable for serving to 11 year old pupils.
