Rosewood school scoops healthy status award

5th May 2009 - 00:00
Abstract
The Rosewood Special School in Dudley, West Midlands, scooped a healthy status award last week from the department for children, schools and families.
A representative from the Dudley health promoting schools service presented the award to the school at a ceremony on 27 April. Rosewood met the criteria that included a revamp of the school kitchen, giving pupils the opportunity to prepare, cook and try food during technology lessons, a breakfast club for pupils and encouraging more children to play outside with new activity equipment. Councillor Liz Walker, cabinet member for children's services, said: "The health of our school children is one of our top priorities. I congratulate everyone involved in promoting healthy eating in Rosewood Special School and bring about this healthy school status."
