Abstract
The ‘transformation’ of the catering facilities continued with the opening of the refurbished atrium café at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital site.

The revamped facility provides a range of hot and cold drinks alongside a selection of snacks, with all profits reinvested in patient care. The café has a new layout and menu, including a wide selection of gluten free and vegan products.

Staff will soon be able to benefit from a fast-track lunch ‘grab and go' option designed to minimise pressure on front counter services.

Stuart Willes, UHD’s head of operations and facilities, said: “The refurbishment of the atrium café  is part of a major transformation of our catering services - all designed to provide a range of modern, high-street standard retail facilities for patients, visitors and staff. We’ve been delighted with the support on our reopening day – the team have been amazing, and it was a bonus to welcome Siobhan Harrington, our chief executive, to serve one of our first coffees."

There will be further ‘transformation’ work going on in the hospital’s Oasis and Shelley restaurants over the next few months.
