The competition, held in conjunction with Education Scotland, is awarded to the school who comes up with an innovation idea that promotes the ethos and ideals of BEBL.
ASSIST FM national chair said: “These awards were introduced this year to take cognisance of the great things that can happen when the school catering service works hand in hand with the school to create a project that creates positive outcomes for the pupils and the schools. That’s what B.E.B.L. is all about.”
The winner of the secondary school prize, sponsored by CRB Cunninghams, was Stirling High School. A team of third year pupils created a brand for their school dining room. ‘Fresco’ is a mix of American, Italian and Mexican themed menus. The team was involved in the brand concept, logo design and promotional campaign.
The winner of the primary school prize, sponsored by Spaceright, was Busby Primary School. Their Skills Academy classes are a feature of the curriculum in the school. Developed in partnership with pupils, parents and staff, the Skills Academy use the Experiences within Curriculum for Excellence as a starting point and focus on developing skills for learning, life and work through a range of meaningful experiences.
Lorna Aitken from Education Scotland stated, “Education Scotland were delighted to work with ASSIST FM on these awards. We had so many great entries that it was really difficult for the judges to make a decision.”
The awards will now become an annual event with the winners presenting at the ASSIST FM National conference to all Scottish Authorities.
