Sodexo extends catering contract at HM Naval Base Portsmouth
Abstract
Services company Sodexo has secured a two-year £16 million-a-year extension to its soft FM services contract at His Majesty’s Naval Base (HMNB) Portsmouth, as part of the Ministry of Defence’s Future Maritime Support Programme (FMSP).

Sodexo’s team of 300 employees provides a wide range of services, including catering, cleaning, waste management, retail, leisure activities, grounds maintenance and helpdesk support.

Since taking over the contract five years ago Sodexo has demonstrated its commitment to making ‘meaningful change’ having identified a number of improvement opportunities to enhance the lived experience of those based at HMNB Portsmouth.

Improvements have included changes to the retail facilities and the introduction of its Mindful Active Programme which offers health and wellbeing guidance to military personnel, helping them make informed choices about their lifestyle. Sodexo has also introduced its WasteWatch data-driven food waste programme.

Mark Baker, chief operating officer of Defence, Government & Energy, Sodexo UK & Ireland, said: “The extension of this contract recognises our commitment to improvements in service delivery at HMNB Portsmouth. Through a strong focus on operational excellence, environmental responsibility and wellbeing support, our dedicated team has delivered outcomes that matter to military personnel at the base.”
