Talkington Bates takes nutrition to new level

Talkington Bates has teamed up with registered nutritionist Lucy-Ann Prideaux to introduce a nutritional eating dimension to its contract catering service.

The ‘Simply Nutrition’ initiative is being rolled out across all sites and aims to make it easier for diners to maintain a nutritious eating regime at work.

A range of meals, from salads, soups and smoothies to wraps, vegetable sides and mains are available, all of which are made from seasonal produce, fresh herbs and spices, natural wholefoods, and nutrient-dense ‘super’ and ‘functional’ foods.

Paul Bates, group managing director, Talkington Bates, explained: “Simply Nutrition is a natural extension of the Talkington Bates ethos of using fresh, local and seasonal produce as well as tailoring our catering solution to meet current trends and changing consumer demands.

“We know our diners’ priorities are to eat more nutritiously, shed unwanted excess pounds or supercharge their energy during the day, and we have worked hard with Simply Nutrition to create a winning formula that helps them address these key concerns.”

The three key nutrition goals which Talkington Bates menus will help deliver are:

•    An ‘Energising’ meal that leaves them revitalised, balanced and focused on the day’s demands -
for example: lemon and cumin puy lentils with beetroot, green beans and coriander, roasted lemon turkey with avocado and chia seed salad; or a side of papaya, tomato and ginger relish.
•    A ‘Superfood’ meal packed with a wide spectrum of vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants to boost their health and vibrancy - for example: spice-infused salmon with a supergrain salad and lemon dressing or Thai-style mixed vegetables.
•    A ‘Light and Lean’ meal that is nutritious but light in calories to help improve their diets or become leaner - for example: carrot, lime and ginger salad.

In addition – to the nutritional meals included on Talkington Bates menus – recipe cards will be made available for customers to take away outlining each dish’s nutritional profiles and functional benefits. The recipe cards are colour coded so customers can see at a glance which key nutrition goal each dish meets.
